A police duty belt is a nylon or leather belt designed to carry equipment including handcuffs, radios with lapel mics, mace and pepper spray, keys, batons and firearms and ammunition. Holsters are generally worn attached to a person’s belt or waistband, or clipped to an item of clothing. Some holsters may also fit inside a pocket. Holsters are generally kept near the waist, chest, or upper thighs of the user, where they may easily be reached. A bulletproof vest helps absorb the impact from firearm-fired projectiles and shrapnel from explosions. A SWAT (special weapons and tactics) team is an elite tactical unit in various national law enforcement departments. They have specialized equipment including ballistic helmets, assault vests, gas masks, body armor, ballistic shields and night vision optics for determining the positions of hostages or hostage takers inside enclosed structures.
