Historically, katana were a traditionally made Japanese sword used by the samurai of ancient and feudal Japan. The katana has a distinctive appearance: a curved, single-edged blade with a circular or squared guard and long grip to accommodate two hands.
Ninja have been around since at least the 14th century, when guerrilla warfare in feudal Japan called for subterfuge and assassination, activities samurai would not perform because they were forbidden by the samurai code. Ninja were spies, assassins and specialist warriors.
